Admission criteria

Strong undergraduate mathematics and CS including OS, programming languages, data structures, discrete math, linear algebra, algorithms and theory.
The 10-course-unit degree permits two CIS 9990 thesis units in year two after choosing a CIS Graduate Group adviser and faculty reader.
The thesis requires a research document plus oral, conference or poster presentation; up to two independent-study units are another research-depth route.
Extreme selectivity
