A lottery reach but not impossible: 3.21 is materially below the usual 3.5 profile, while four-plus years of SWE and sustained systems work provide a credible nontraditional counterweight. Show research aptitude through one sharply scoped systems question, technical artifacts and academically credible recommenders; do not frame the optional thesis as guaranteed.

Araştırma sayfası ↗Admission criteria
- Strong CS or related preparation and three strong recommendations; successful applicants usually have at least 3.5/4.0, explicitly not a hard cutoff.
- The 30-credit terminal master's permits 1-6 credits of CSE 698 thesis work for students in good standing who secure a willing CSE adviser.
- Fall entry only; GRE scores are not considered.
- GPA below usual successful range
- No publications
- Thesis adviser must be self-secured
Sınavlar ve belgeler
- GRE: not-accepted. CSE says GRE scores are not considered for master's or PhD review.
- Rackham-approved English evidence unless exempt.
- Rackham English-proficiency rules apply to applicants educated outside qualifying English-language settings.
Watchouts
- The thesis is optional and requires a willing CSE faculty adviser; regular EECS 699 research credits do not satisfy this terminal degree.
- Michigan's official AY 2023-24 report shows 63 offers from 2,204 non-domestic MS applications (2.86%) before accounting for the profile's 3.21 GPA and lack of formal research; the 2% figure is a deliberately conservative personalized estimate.
- GPA below usual successful range
- No publications
- Thesis adviser must be self-secured
- MS admission carries no funding guarantee; support opportunities may arise only after enrollment.
